A warehouse is a storage facility under customs supervision where goods at the import or export stage are kept under safe conditions until customs procedures are completed. As an important logistics link in foreign trade, warehouses offer businesses critical advantages such as tax deferral, inventory management and operational flexibility.
In Turkey, warehouses operate within the framework of Customs Law No. 4458 and related regulations. Customs duties and other financial obligations are suspended while the goods remain in the warehouse; thus, importing companies can manage their cash flows more efficiently.
Type-A Warehouse
Type-A warehouses are general warehouses established by operators authorized by the customs administration and open to everyone's use. Goods owners can store their goods at facilities providing Type-A warehouse services without having to build their own warehouses. This model is especially ideal for companies that regularly import but do not want to make their own warehouse investment. As TK Tuzla Warehouse, we provide secure storage services in our indoor and outdoor storage areas with our Type-A warehouse authorization certificate affiliated with the Pendik Customs Directorate.
Type-B Warehouse
Type-B warehouses are private warehouses where only the warehouse operator's own goods are stored. Third party goods cannot be stored in this type of warehouse. This model is generally preferred by large companies that import at high volumes on a continuous basis.
Key Differences Between Type-A and Type-B
Type-A warehouses are open to everyone while Type-B is exclusive to the operator. In Type-A warehouses, responsibility is shared between the operator and the goods owner, while in Type-B warehouses, all responsibility belongs to the operator. Businesses engaged in foreign trade can optimize their costs by choosing between these two models according to their needs and operational volumes.
